Industrial hemp has been scientifically proven to absorb more CO2 per hectare than any forest or commercial crop and is therefore the ideal carbon sink.

Hemp's rapid growth rate and high biomass production enable it to capture and store carbon quickly. It can reach maturity in just a few months, allowing it to capture carbon from the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis at a much faster rate than any other plant.
During photosynthesis, plants take in CO2 and convert it into organic matter, such as cellulose and lignin, which makes up the plant's structure. The carbon absorbed by hemp during its growth is stored in its various plant parts, including the stems, leaves, and roots.

Hemp cultivation enriches soil with organic carbon, contributing to carbon sequestration. This carbon remains sequestered as long as the plant is not burned or decomposes.The more hemp is grown, the more carbon it can capture and retain in its biomass.

Additionally, hemp can be used to make biofuels, reducing fossil fuel use and carbon emissions. Hemp-based materials, like hempcrete and bioplastics, have the potential to replace carbon-intensive alternatives, further reducing the carbon footprint of various products.
